What is your inner nature, exactly?

Well it starts with a desire. An energy inside you that compells you to act.

It can also start with a feeling of irritation. A sense that something is not right according to your sensibility. Which leads to the desire to respond, perhaps to ‘fix it’.

It is not something that you can find easily on any matrix of skills or strengths. You may find something similar but that is dangerous. Your inner nature is unique and specific and you risk diluting its power if you try to categorise it. This may be helpful to help others orientate themselves but only if you recognize the categorisation helps relate to your capability. And remember that your capability is richer and more nuanced than the categorisation.

So here are a couple of specific capabilities that I have noticed in myself and tried to refine my understanding over the years.

Making things relatable/helping others to contribute

I notice whenever things are presented that may be difficult for others to understand. This may be complex language or jargon which will exclude people. I like finding analogies, metaphors or simply doing the hard work to find simple yet accurate language.

One aspect of this is that it makes it easy for others to contribute. I don’t feel the need to prove that others can actually understand or even act as a result of that increased understanding.
