Seven signs that you need to fix your relationship with money (and how to fix it)

Do any of the following ring true?

  • You do your self assessment at the last possible minute
  • You pay for expensive holidays because you deserve it
  • You worry whether you will have enough money to pay your personal tax at the end of the year
  • You pay into your personal pension and then stop when income gets tight… and then start again later
  • You try to test out business ideas alongside doing contracting and they don’t give you the income and freedom you want
  • You don’t have enough money for corporation tax some years and get through by the skin of your teeth
  • You increase the borrowing against your mortgage to fund your other outgoings (holidays, tax shortfall etc)

If you don’t have enough money for when you need it then you are not in control of your money.

If you feel anxious about money whether that is income tax, corporation tax, everyday and discretionary spending then you are not in control of your money. If you are not in control of money then money must be in control of you.

This may seem nonsensical and illogical given that it is inanimate and can’t control you. However, it is common that people do not have a healthy relationship with money. And that is important when you are trying to make a change in your working life. It is VERY important if…
