In this article I will explain why our relationship to money can hold us back and keep us in a job or a career that doesn’t fulfil us. Or… stop us from adjusting our (working) lives to make a contribution that we naturally enjoy.

This is a handy way of introducing culture as something that is fundamental to our lives but we don’t normally see. Or, put another way, we are unconsciously influenced by it but we are not consciously aware of it.

And culture can be big and remote (think national identity) or small and close (think the family’s unstated expectations of what is right).

This influence can come in the form of feelings which guide us.

These can be difficult to articulate sometimes because you just ‘know’ what is right or wrong.
